I really enjoy Versace's use of zippers in this collection. He works with the stiffness created by the addition of zippers to create interesting and beautiful forms. The zippers actually become an integral part of the design and do not merely function as surface embellishment as in many clothes. The subtle sheen added and the body-defining lines created are very flattering as well. The metallic zippers work well with his palette of vibrant colours. Usually I don't fancy Versace. In my opinion, Versace collections are usually defined by the undesirable combination of being too commercial, trashy and obvious. The models often look too thin, tanned, and overly made-up. This time I think the subtle glamour was pulled off really well.
