Japanese style- Metallics

Love the mixing of vivid colours with metallics. If you haven't noticed, I like having metallics- gold, silver, copper- in my outfits.

Car for my birthday? No thanks

With some of my friends seemingly preparing to take driving tests, I think it's time I made a confession.

I'm TERRIFIED of driving.

How terrified? So terrified that I have nightmares of me driving or sitting in a doomed car. I don't know how, or if I'm ever going to take a driving test.

I suppose it's just like my fear of elevators and closing doors (elevator doors, ticket barriers, MRT carriage doors). My pulse used to quicken when confronted with them, and I'd be numb and incapable of doing anything. I had to rely on people to pull me inside. Thankfully, I've gotten over those fears now but my fear of driving remains. A reason I was so happy in OBS is that I discovered that I have NO FEAR of being at great heights, unlike many.

I wonder if I could just stick to public transportation to get around in Singapore?

I should get more tees. Currently I have two- one white (with a cat face printed on it) and one black (this one). The cat tee seems to attract alot of attention when worn. Someone even came up to my sis when we were out once to ask her where she bought it.
Went out with Hui Jun this afternoon to get art supplies. Then we adjourned to my house where we did a still life in charcoal. Haven't used charcoal for so long! This brings back memories of J1 drawing classes.

Grandma's giveaways

So, my mum returned from Penang a few weeks ago with a big bag stuffed full of hand-me-downs from my grandma. Yes, my grandma is pretty scary when it comes to buying habits... she can buy clothes practically EVERY WEEK. Here are detail shots of some of the clothes, of which I'm keeping only a few.

The amount of handwork that went into this dress is ASTOUNDING. The swirly floral pattern and sequins remind me of Dries Van Noten.

A velvety black top with puff sleeves.

This has a folksy vibe about it.

A white mandarin jacket that makes a stylish pajama top. Or I was thinking of wearing it unbuttoned over a top. Hmm.

This print is so cute. Reminds me of Lanvin's most recent resort collection.

I think my poor mum is being driven insane by the maid. She's our third maid in six months and I'm not sure how long she can last. Working women have it the worst.

I just love sequins now; actually, I always have. I know many people find them tacky and 'eww' but I'm just attracted to all things bright and sparkly :)

I finished SAT 1 and the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 (highest level) in a single weekend. Whew! My taking level 1 was actually because of a mistake made by my sis. I was supposed to take level 2. My sis said I'd either kill her (if I fail) or thank her (if I pass). Actually, I think I have to thank her for making it possible for me to do what I didn't have the courage to do originally. When did you become like this, yilin? I'd like to think that one of my qualities is my courage to aim high and do unconventional things, though that may sometimes be mistaken for naivete.

After my test I went to Borders to meet my parents and spotted a really nice book on vintage fashion of various eras. The cover was made of a cloth-like material. How lovely. I spent my time indulging my fashion passion by reading Teen Vogue and US Vogue. The latest Teen Vogue issue with Kristen Stewart has amazing jewellery. I WANT! I like the styling of the outfits as well. Here are some behind-the-scenes photos from teenvogue.com:
