Playing around

Here's me doing one of my favourite activities: dressing up.

The clothes in question are a $3 white skirt (I call it a 'gypsy' skirt) and a grey tank dress tucked in and worn as a top. I tried it with many accessories including ceramic pendants I got from Art Fest (I think they're actually incense holders). I usually wear shorter skirts so it was fun to try this skirt. Now I just need to wait til after A levels to wear it out!

The very last time.

Today was my class's last photo-taking session. The gravity of it just dawned on me. I'm a SENIOR now! I wonder if I'm a different person from the one that entered IP almost four years ago, as a way of escaping from the mundane life at my secondary school. What I did not expect was meeting some wonderful friends who widened my outlook on life and helped define my way of thinking. I remember telling myself when I entered IP: "I'm here to learn everything I can." Well, I feel that I've achieved that aim. I may forget all my maths concepts three months after graduating, but there are some lessons that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. Lessons of friendship, facing difficulties head on, perseverance, and many more. Because ultimately, those are the things that matter the most.

Quote of the Day

"Pretty girls are everywhere but girls with style are truly rare."
------yi lin

Just came up with my very own quote based on an observation I made today while on the way to my Japanese class. Note the rhyme (this is where my literary knowledge comes in useful!)

My sis's handmade jewellery

A new pair of earrings

and a pair of rings made sometime back but I didn't post.

Fashion inspiration- Jane

One of my favourite fashion bloggers is a teenage blogger named Jane Aldridge (http://seaofshoes.com). Unlike the teenybopper fashion you see on so many teens, her style is classy yet experimental. Her outfits inspire me to try new styles and combinations that I have simply dismissed without much thought or did not even consider. Here is a compilation of my favourite outfits of her's:

She's not afraid to try different styles and her impeccable taste leads her to buy stunning pieces. Also, she is known for her shoes (hence her blog name). I always eagerly await her new outfits to see what she has come up with.

My next holiday destination

We are considering Greece or Spain for our next holiday destination. It's a plus that I think I will enjoy the cuisine. I can't imagine what it is like to have never stepped out of your own country. Well, perhaps it's hard to wish for something if you haven't had an inkling of what it is like. I'm very thankful that my family has the financial means to go travelling. Travelling is quite a significant portion of my life! Me and my sis always get very excited before a trip. We also like being on a plane. Some people might find packing for a trip tedious, but I actually enjoy it. It's fun to plan your outfits.

Making Teachers' Day cards

My mum's back from Abu Dhabi and this means I've got my camera back! Yay! No more blurry handphone photos.

Spent a major part of my day yesterday making teachers' day cards with my sister. Each of us made four. They turned out BEAUTIFULLY. You should really see her's- three of them are pop-up cards with a teatime-themed one in particular that I really like. I took CLEAR, BRIGHT photos for catalogue purposes (as a practice we know take photos of everything we make- you never know when they might come in handy, maybe for commissions from other people). I've capitalized my words because I realized what a huge difference the camera quality makes in photos. Unless the camera is intentionally meant to give a raw, blurry feel, like polaroid cameras. I'll post pictures later once I get the time to load photos into my computer.

But the most important consideration when making cards is- the recipient must like them! I am particularly anxious about this because I really like my teachers and I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to them. I feel truly grateful for the individual attention they have showered on me and their belief in my ability. I've had wonderful, supportive teachers in my life and in that aspect I think I've been more blessed than my sis.

I considered getting my teachers other gifts but decided a nice card alone is best. That, plus a commitment to work hard for their subjects :) I should think teachers have accumulated a pile of gifts over the years and are not in want of more. So, I really hope they like my cards!
